Virginia Model Judiciary Program (VaMJP)
In 1974, Executive Director Fulton Johnson and Delegate Gerald Baliles worked to create a judicial program for students in Virginia. In partnership with the Young Lawyers Division of the Virginia Bar Association (VBA), the VaMJP was launched in 1975.
This program provides students all across Virginia with a hands-on educational experience in the Commonwealth’s judiciary system culminating at competition in the Virginia Supreme Court.
“…the Court feels this program is one of the most positive public service projects of our organization”
— Chief Justice Harry Carrico, Virginia Supreme Court
As the decades have passed, the Board, Staff, and Young Lawyers Division continue to proudly carry on the legacy of Governor Baliles and Mr. Johnson. Here’s to making history happen!
